Raven Software, meanwhile, is a veteran studio – having helmed the Soldier of Fortune series along with Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast/Academy – and has served as a Call of Duty support studio for the last decade. Treyarch is the studio responsible for all four previous Black Ops games, as well as introducing Call of Duty’s now-famous Zombies mode in 2008’s World at War. The decision was reportedly made, at least in part, due to a conflict between Sledgehammer and Raven Software, the studio handling Cold War’s campaign. Sledgehammer Games, which most recently led development on 2017’s Call of Duty WWII, was originally handling this year’s entry as expected - that is until mid-2019, when Activision moved development to Treyarch.
